The children pick a stick and put the same clothes pins as the number
I picked up these at the dollar store. We have just been using them as typical puzzles but I saw a neat idea where you put the pieces in a tub of sensory material like rice and then the child digs and searches before putting them in. http://www.littlehandsbigwork.com/2009/02/letter-search.html This was an idea that grew. I had seen a few ideas on the net. Some had used a fence. Others different posts in the ground. Since I am at a rental I wanted something I could move easily if needed. There are 4 sides to this-3 are for music and one for a water wall. This was a very reasonably priced piece to make. All the wood and stain was donated by a friend so free, the chimes were found free, the pots and bowls were cheap from thrift store, and the grate was given for free as well. I just bought screws. Here are some of the ideas I gleaned from. http://progressiveearlychildhoodeducation.blogspot.ca/2010/05/taking-music-play-outside-part-2.html http://www.instructables.com/id/2x4-xylophone/ http://www.childcentralstation.com/2011/05/making-music.html http://www.filthwizardry.com/2010/05/music-wall-rip-music-tree.html |
