I wanted a wood tool bench instead of a plastic little tykes one that I already had. So I started with this old bedside table added a back to hang tools. I had to move the drawer down to accommodate more tools and helmets. Also changed the knobs. Then I gave it a few coats of paint and tada. Total cost was $5 after I sold the plastic one. I had everything from other projects except the table itself.
I have a 4 yr old dayhome boy that is very interested in numbers. So I took some number stickers put them on the rocks and painted modge podge over to glue them down. Then I painted a bunch of rocks different colors. Yes I know there is a couple numbers missing. lol I have to buy some more stickers.
I found this wonderful idea somewhere online. Take Dollar store Jenga blocks glued together with a piece of binder dividers that are transparent colors. Thankfully we had a picture frame clamp with made the project so much faster. My plan is the make some squares, triangles and circles.
I made 4 so far and didn't even get them to the light table yet and the 4 and 6 yrs olds were having a great time playing with them and duplo people. The kids always want to bring everything they make home. So I found this idea at ikea and hoped it will encourage them to leave some things here for us to look at. Maybe it will personalize their play space as well.
T was not that interested in touching this. It was sticky and she just wanted to poke it a tiny bit. Q had alot more fun and got right at it digging and squishing.
I used to have all the toys sorted out and in small bins that the children could access when they wanted. Except I was having problems with them dumping all the toys and then not playing. I read about this idea online. So I sorted all the toys into 5 bins, I labeled them with the days of the week and they get one bin per day. It is very manageable for them to clean up. There are still plenty of toys available. The kitchen, dollhouse and rescue heroe items stay out all the time |
